Storyhouse is a combined arts producer, with a remarkably diverse body of work behind it, and a fascinating future ahead. Producers of the award winning Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre, Music and Literature Festivals, WayWord young person’s festival and Moonlight Flicks open air cinema season, Storyhouse will operate the building when it opens. 

Their theatre company, Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre, founded in 2010, is the most successful of its type outside London. 25,000 people attended the 2015 season, including 3,500 children. Working as a seasonal repertory company, Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre currently stages outdoor versions of Shakespeare plus new writing or new adaptations, they have worked with writers Glyn Maxwell, Helen Eastman and Jessica Swale.

Storyhouse designed and built the ‘much-loved’ 500 seat theatre in-the-round, with its wooden picnic terraces, velarium sail coverings, bark stage and front row VIP seats. Its unique, intimate environment and unrivalled welcome typifies Chester Performs’ love of innovation, re-invention and a sense of fun.
